Via ferratas, climbing courses & Mountain adventures

In Kleinwalsertal, the popular Mindelheimer via ferrata crosses the border area between Austria and Germany at an altitude of 2,300 m. At the Kanzelwand mountain station you can find levels from B to D with the challenging 2-country via ferrata and the family via ferrata Walsersteig. Haven't tried it yet? The professionals of the mountain school give beginner courses and climbing courses for children. At the climbing garden, they give tips for the right techniques on the via ferrata and climbing amongst rocks. They are also your contact for canyoning and other adventures for the whole family.

    Walser via ferrata

    Via ferrata at Kanzelwand. Suitable for beginners with no fear of heights. Equipment and sure-footedness are necessary. The highlight is a 26 m long bridge called Burmabridge. Recommended for families: also suitable for children from a height of 140 cm!

    Mindelheimer Via Ferrata

    This via ferrata certainly is one of the most interesting ridge walks in the Alps. The route through the rugged dolomit shows varied and impressive rock formations. You will cross  4 summits - Schafalpköpfe as well as Kemptner Köpfle. The trail is accessible for experienced, sure-footed mountaineers with no fear of heights.

    Via ferrata with a fixed rope at Kanzelwand for experienced tourers with climbing gear, otherwise only with mountain guides. Over a length of 500 m on the vertical wall, steep upswings, crossways with breathtaking views, a rope bridge and challenging passages demand both physical fitness and the right techniques.
    Duration: approx. 3,5 hours - level of difficulty: C - D

    • Via Ferrata

    Hindelanger Via Ferrata

    This via ferrata begins at the summit point of Nebelhorn and leads over a rather rugged and narrow rock ridge about 5 km long to Großer Daumen. When overcoming the ridge, climbers have more than 100 meters of ladders and many hundreds of meters of wire rope. After the first third of the via ferrata you can take a shortcut. Return to Oberstdorf with Nebelhornbahn.
    Duration: approx. 5 - 6 hours - level of difficulty: B - C

Never climbed before? Start now!

The climbing courses of the mountain school take place in the climbing garden and they are perfect for learning how to use carabiners and ropes on the via ferratas. The courses are great for beginners or those who want to refresh their knowlegde.

... is Germany's highest-located climbing forest and is located close to Kleinwalsertal: right next to the Berghaus Schönblick at Söllereck.
