Modern Ski Resort on the Ifen

Delicious and fresh culinary aromas will be carried on the breeze from the Ifen this season. As part of the extensive modernisation works that have been carried out on the ski resort, a new eating place is being built at the Ifen II cable car mountain station.

Delicious and fresh culinary aromas will be carried on the breeze from the Ifen this season. As part of the extensive modernisation works that have been carried out on the ski resort, a new eating place is being built at the Ifen II cable car mountain station. The restaurant is called Tafel & Zunder and it promises to offer an array of flavoursome and predominantly regional dishes on its menu. Architecturally, the new restaurant has been designed to incorporate natural materials such as reclaimed wood, stone and strong natural materials.

The two ten-seater gondola lifts operated by the exclusive Doppelmayr  D-Line are replacing the old Ifen and Hahnenköpfle cable cars this season. ‘After seven months of construction work, we have finally achieved our goals and we are very proud of the whole team,’ comments Augustin Kröll from the managing board of Kleinwalsertaler Bergbahn AG and Managing Director of Skiliftgesellschaft links der Breitach GmbH & Co KG.

Nearly half of the pistes on the Ifen are natural snow pistes. Lovers of fine powder snow are in their absolute element here. On the other half of the slopes, the new snowmaking system guarantees plenty of skiing fun and adventure right down into the valley throughout the whole season. The Gaisbühl practice area near the valley station earns its reputation year on year of being very child-friendly and a great place for beginners to practice their first snow ploughs. The Gaisbühl lift and the conveyor lifts make the first forays into the world of winter sports easier and more pleasurable for beginners and younger skiers.

The culinary delights on offer are more varied than almost anywhere else in the alpine regions. Organic produce features on many menus, classics such as the currywurst (curried sausage) are reimagined and vegetarians will be spoiled for choice. There is also no need to worry about queuing; you can make yourself comfortable, allow yourself to be waited upon and simply let the beautiful views work their magic on you. It is obviously also a perfect meeting place for families who are out and about enjoying skiing and winter hiking adventures. The circular hiking trail on the Gottesackerplateau is and will always remain one of highlights for lovers of winter hiking.
