Biotope excursion: The Breitach and its gravel banks
Biotope excursion - The Breitach and its gravel banks - only at second glance a lush habitat
Under the expert guidance of Agnes Steininger and Rosemarie Zöhrer you will explore this special natural jewel of the Kleinwalsertal. Large gravel banks are usually an indication that a body of water is in a more or less natural state, since only then can the river deposit part of its load. To the naked eye, these appear inhospitable and bare and are exposed to extreme conditions. But they still represent a valuable habitat for a myriad of creatures. In connection with the remains of alluvial forest in the bank area, the value of a near-natural flowing water can hardly be overestimated.
Approx. 2 hours should be planned for the excursion. It is also particularly suitable for children aged 6 to 12, for whom a separate, playful program with lots of fun is offered.
