With just under 1,000 participants and 886 finishers from 21 countries, the 10th Walser Trail Challenge—supported by Adidas Terrex—celebrated a thoroughly successful anniversary edition on the last weekend of July 2026. While Saturday offered dry trails in summery conditions, the athletes also began the second day of competition on Sunday under dry but overcast skies. On the technically demanding alpine trails between the Allgäu and Lechtal Alps, the event took participants through five categories across an impressive high-mountain landscape—from the valley villages at around 1,000 meters up to just under 2,300 meters above sea level. Challenging climbs, rocky sections, and spectacular views once again made this anniversary edition a special experience for the international trail running community.
The event kicked off on Saturday with the Widderstein Trail, covering 15 kilometers and 980 meters of elevation gain. On Sunday, the other races followed: the Walser Trail, the Walser Ultra, and the two combined categories, the Walser Trail Challenge Classic and the Walser Trail Challenge Pro.
And one thing is clear: We’re already ready for 2027!

The Walser Trail Challenge 2026 took place from July 25–26, 2026, and in its 10th edition, it once again offered everything a mountain runner’s heart desires: pure alpine trails, steep climbs, flowing downhills, and breathtaking summit experiences.
