Highest point Short description
The Hahnenköpfle is located in Schwarzwassertal between Hoher Ifen and Gottesackerplateau. The route leads across stony, steep paths along the syncline of the Ifen to the peak with great views.
Description
Already during the ride with the chair lift of the Ifenbahn the Ifen plateau between the tree tops cannot be overlooked. During the tour we will be able to see the harsh cliffs up close. While we walk up the first few hundred meters from the Ifenhütte (hut) we are accompanied by the cows’ ringing bells until we reach the entrance of the Ifen syncline. We hike at the right side of this broad gully and enjoy a fantastic view on the Ifen’s entire north eastern cliffs. Our curiosity is also aroused by the Gottesacker plateau, the karst area that stretches east of the Hahnenköpfle As soon as the peak of the Hahnenköpfle comes into sight we glimpse the peculiar rock landscape for the first time. At the top we have the Nagelfluhkette in front of us in the north, turning slightly to the west we see the Bregenzerwald and Lake Constance in the distance. In the south the Widdersteins appears behind the Walmendingerhorn – dominating is however now the enormous barren rock plateau. It bears a magical appeal, which makes you want to put foot on its perforated surface. So why not use the short round course. At the end of this absolutely rewarding tour a stop at the Ifenhütte or Auenhütte is highly recommended.
